We're in Wilmington today for the 8th annual fundraiser for the USS North Carolina! It's HOT in Wilmywood today.
The show is to raise funds for the Battleship USS North Carolina. I always enjoy playing this show immensely! It's great fun, out on the fantail of the ship...always a great sunset and moonrise!! (And tonight, the moon should be close to full, if not completely full! BEAUTIFUL!)
John Golden, Mark Teachey, Catesby Jones, Dave Bohn, Kent Knorr and many other incredibly talented people will be performing tonight. I look VERY forward to the event.
It's a great night to see old friends from this area, meet new ones and again, do something beneficial for the battleship.
Yesterday was busy. John and I did a promo at WHQR to invite folks to the HOOTENANNY tonight. (We try to keep it like an old fashioned "hootenanny" that we affectionately call "THE HOOT!" And it is really a HOOT! Folks sing along, it's a very relaxed environment and I look so forward to this show every year. I hope it continues until............forever!)
We had dinner with Marah and Kevin last night. We all wanted Italian, so that's what we did. YUM! Then John and I rehearsed for a while as well as picked around on some other tunes he's working on with his banjo. What a GREAT TIME!! We love, absolutely LOVE being at John and Mary Ellen's! They are so warm, so welcoming and it's, well, like being at home. I was so glad to visit a little with their daughter Martha, whom I adore! She was knitting, Wayne was reading, John and I were playing, Mary Ellen was busy doing her thing and it was just great!
Nice to have friends where you can just "be!" That's a wonderful commodity these days!
So, this is a very short post, as opposed to the usual tomes I prepare! But, that's it! I'll let you know how the HOOT turns out. I'm sure it will be just as it always is...WONDERFUL! Keep LIVE and ORIGINAL MUSIC ALIVE! Also, keep all the old favorites alive and make sure GOOD MUSIC is in front of your family...especially your kids! They need to REMEMBER what has been great for a long time and keep it alive for the coming generations!!!
Till next time,
Annie
